Wall strengthening during restoration and preservation jobs

Fluid material injection system  - constant pressure to ensure saturation of any cavities

Serbatoi iniezione liquidiMapex can supply you with different injection tanks with trolley, essential for structural consolidation of masonry and reinforced concrete structures.

In the construction industry, the compressed air injection tank  is necessary in all cases of strengthening through  saturation with fluid materials of micro- and macro cracks.
The constant compressed air pressure on the material during the injection enables a full saturation of masonry of any thickness. The unstable conditions of a building during a restoring or conservative job, make a consolidation indispensable.

The system works with a reasonable  push:
- Adjustable compressed air
- Controlled and constant injection
-  Full saturation
- Safe and certain solution

        INJECTION - PREPARATION AND IMPLEMENTATION

  1. Plaster removal on masonry walls to reveal existing damages and to better examine the consistency of the wall parameter.
  2. Grouting of existing damages to avoid leaking while injecting. In case of stone walls, it is more advisable to keep the existing plaster or, if no plaster is present, proceed with rendering in order to keep the bonding mixture in.
  3. Drilling of Ø 25 mm holes from one side only on masonry walls thinner than 60/70 cm, oblique from 30° to 45° downward and of a depth in the amount of 3/4 of wall thickness. For bigger walls (from 80 to 200 cm) it is recommended to drill holes on both sides nearly at the center. On stone walls as well as on full brick walls, holes must be drilled alternate, at a distance of not more than 50 cm from one another.
  4. Cleansing of the holes with water to eliminate drilling dust and improve the flow and the absorption of the material to be injected.
  5. Injection of slow-hardening fluid material starting from the lower holes.
  6. Insertion of threaded steel bars in the holes while work goes on.

        INJECTION – MANUFACTURING AND IMPLEMENTATION

  1. Grouting of existing cracks along the drilling line, or surface rendering in order to keep the bonding mixture in.
  2. Horizontal drill-through-hole, oblique and inclined of the Ø required by the Construction Supervision.
  3. Drilling of two connecting holes for injection, inclined at 30/45° above foreseen plates location.
  4. Drilling of further connecting holes every 5 m along all the length of the horizontal drill-through-hole so to help injection levelling and air expulsion.
  5. Insertion of a threaded steel bar or strand.
  6. Positioning of anchoring plates at the two ends of the bar, and tightening with bolts for final tensioning as required by Construction Supervision.
  7. Grouting of the plates edges and cracks.
  8. Water injection into holes to remove drilling dust so to improve the easy movement and absorption of the material to be injected and prevent a too quick dehydration of the mortar.
  9. Injection of fluid slow-hardening materials.
  10. Proceed with tensioning as required by Construction Supervision.
